---Concert Reminder---

Tonight's the night!

The 4th and 5th grade band and chorus students have been anxiously awaiting the big performance this evening!  Please have students arrive at Memorial School in their concert attire (black bottoms/white tops) at 6:30pm.  If you arrive at the school earlier, please stay with your children until 6:30 to allow the music teachers to finish getting ready.

All students will report to the GYM at 6:30, and we will send the band students to the music room at 6:45 to set up their instruments.

The concert this morning for the school was a huge success, and we know you will enjoy the show!  We look forward to seeing you there.  :)

A welcome and a farewell

This week has been such a busy one in music.  Not only are we in full concert-preparation mode, but we are also excited to welcome back Mrs. Niu from her maternity leave!

We wish Ms. Maxwell (who has been covering Mrs. Niu's classes for the first 3 months of school) the best of luck!  Thankfully, she will continue to work with Memorial students as a permanent sub.

I have also updated our most recent songs in grades 1-4...make sure to check them out!

Mr. Papadonis

Yesterday was Mr. Papadonis' last science lesson, as well as our opportunity to thank him for all that he has done for the students in Burlington.  The whole school sang "Thank You," and it was just beautiful!  Ms. Maxwell and I want to thank all of the students for your hard work in class to learn that song.  Simply amazing!

Thank You Song

Here are the lyrics to the special Thank You song we have been learning (grades 1-5!)

(solo part omitted)
We can say "thank you"
Oh, we can say "thank you, thank you"
We owe so much to you.
For all you did and do.
We've seen your light shine through
And we learned a lot from you!
You're a great teacher.

--ending--
Our science teacher
You're a great teacher
Thank you.

Thursday's Assembly

Wowza!  Everyone did such a fabulous job yesterday at our first assembly!

We were thrilled to see how well-behaved Memorial students were while we honored those who helped to get the new school built.   We were even more excited about everyone's hard work and dedication to learn 2 new songs in only 2 music classes.  Both the Memorial School Song and Put Your Hand in My Hand were performed beautifully!

Thanks to all of the students who did their best for our first performance!

First week!

We just wanted to let everyone know that we had an amazing first week in music!  The students met Ms. Maxwell, who is currently subbing for Mrs. Niu while she is on maternity leave (Mrs. Niu gave birth on September 7th- congratulations!).

We have also been working on songs that we will sing at the Dedication of the New Memorial School next Thursday.  Here are the lyrics so you can practice!

Memorial School Song:
We are happy and proud
here at Memorial School.
Some of us were born in town,
others born around the world.
But we find our "True North" at Memorial School!
Teachers, students, faculty and
all our families love it at Memorial School!

Put Your Hand in My Hand:
Put your hand in my hand, you can be my friend.
We don't have to look the same to let our voices blend.
We can trust each other, we can try again
If you put your hand in my hand, I will be your friend.
If you put your hand in my hand, I will be your friend.
