We had a short week in music. Here is what we did in four days....
Our first grade students learned a new folk song and game called "Pretty Little Suzie." This game is very similar to Four Corners. One student is selected to be it. That person closes his/her eyes while the rest of the students go to one of the four corners. The teacher also selects a Suzie who goes to one of the four corners. Students go to one of the four corners during each verse that is sung. After each verse, it calls out a number to see if Suzie is in that corner. If susie is not in that called out corner, it has two more chances to find Suzie. The students had so much fun with this game that we played it for two music classes.
Second grade students had fun playing a game called, "Rico's Pizza." In each round of the game three jobs were distributed to the students- the hungry customer, pizza maker, and the person taking the order. The pizza maker had to make the pizza and pass the pizza box around the room as the class sang the song. The goal was to get the correct order to the hungry customer by the end of the song.
Our third grade students are working hard for their Recorder/Violin performance on Wednesday, June 5th at 8:30am. We will have one combined rehearsal on Tuesday, June, 4th. Please have your students bring their recorder and folder on both days, plus their violin if they are in orchestra. Parents- get ready for a wonderful performance!
Our fourth and fifth grade students performed their book projects to our kindergarten and first grade students. Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Gonzalez' class will perform on Monday.
Here are the performances:
Fifth Grade- Where the Wild Things Are
Fourth Grade- The Adventures of Beetle
FOR EVERYONE:
We will once again be having our Musical Showcase on the week of June 10-14, during your child's music class. Students can sing, dance or play an instrument individually and/or with a group of friends. We hope that many students will participate in this event.
Have a wonderful weekend and good luck to the BRUINS!! We want the CUP!
