Weekly Review 5/31- 6/4

We can't believe it is already June! Although it was only four days of school this week, it was a busy week in music!

In first grade, students reviewed playing pizzicato on the open strings. From the lowest open string to the highest open string, the notes consist of G, D, A, and E. The students did so well playing four beat patterns on the open string that we learned two songs- MISSISSIPPI HOT DOG and played an accompaniment to the famous Beatle's song, "TWIST and SHOUT." Here is a photo some of our first grade friends playing the violin:

Our second graders were so excited to begin their violin unit this week. They did a great job of remembering all the different parts of the violin and what the word pizzicato meant. We reviewed rest position and playing position. They also played various four beat patterns on the open string notes and also played the accompaniment using G, D, A to the song, "Twist and Shout." Here are some of Mrs. Langone's class playing the vioin:

Parents and family members, don't forget that your third grade students will have their violin and recorder concert on Tuesday, June 7th at 8:30am. Unfortunately, this is not an all school assembly but all siblings are invited to come down at 8:25am to the cafeteria. Our third grade students have been working very hard on their violin and recorder songs and they cannot wait to perform for you all!

Some of the fourth and fifth grade classes performed their music compositions to either a kindergarten or first grade class. The rest of the classes will perform next week.

Here are some fourth grade performances to the book: The Rainbow Fish

Here are some fifth grade performances to the book: Where the Wild Things Are

Here is a picture of two groups rehearsing their composition:

We cannot believe that there is only 11 more days of school left! Have a wonderful weekend!
