Weekly Review 6/2- 6/6

In first grade, the students continued the ABA composition project in pairs.  Last week the pair used rhythm flashcards to compose an 8 beat "A" section and an 8 beat "B" section, notating on their papers once it sounded the way they wanted.  This week, the students added percussion instruments, and performed the compositions in ABA Form. Click HERE to see their performances.

Second grade students reviewed minor tonality through a fun movement activity.  We then sang a partner song that consisted of these two minor songs-  "Ah, Poor Bird," and "Hey, Ho!" The students did so well on these two songs that we added an ostinato using boomwhackers! An ostinato is a repeated musical phrase.

Don't forget that our third grade students will be participating in the Flag Day Assembly on Tuesday, June 10th @ 8:45am. The students have been working very hard on their recorder songs and two American Patriotic Songs. Please don't forget to bring your recorders on Monday and Tuesday! Monday is our dress rehearsal! Here are they lyrics to the two songs incase you need them!

Our fourth grade students participated in a "Patriotic Sing-Along" during their second class of music.  Mrs. Rzasa and I realized that is our job as music teachers to teach American patriotic songs that are part of the culture and history of the United States. These songs include hymns and military themes such as, "The Star-Spangled Banner," "God Bless America," and "This Land is Your Land."

In fifth grade, students are working on their Moving Up song. They rewrote the lyrics to Pharrel William's song "Happy." We can't wait for you all to hear what our creative fifth graders came up with.

Only 12 more days for school left!! Have a wonderful weekend!
